Headaches can be a pain...literally! What do you do when you get those occasional headaches that want to interrupt your day? Are you quick to go for the medicine, caffeine, or do you see if there is an alternative solution that might work just as well or better?
Here are 3 remedies worth trying:
Drink your water! We have all heard that we should drink 6-8 glasses of water/day, but many of us still fall short. Did you know mild dehydration can occur at any time, and one of the first symptoms is often a headache? So drink a few glasses of water when you feel that headache coming on and see how you feel.
Relax! Tension headaches are another common ailment. When these are coming on, try to intentionally relax your neck and shoulders. Squeeze your shoulders down and back, then gently roll your head side to side. Or better still, get that special someone to give you a neck and head massage! 😍
Put a little peppermint oil on your forehead, temples, or the back of your neck. My daughter, Molly, uses this remedy and finds it works 90% of the time.
One of the keys is catching your headache in the early stages. Listen to your body and treat it kindly when you feel the symptoms coming on. If your headaches are frequent or severe, please see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
For those mild to moderate headaches, take some time to relax, get refreshed, and go on with your day without having to take any medication. You may be surprised at your energy level after these treatments. So be natural and love your body!
